THE GEORGIE COLLECTIVE: TROUBLE’S SISTERS DOWN UNDER by Matilda Coy

I recently had an electrifying meeting with The Trouble Club, delving into global partnerships and boundless opportunities for The Georgie Collective. The excitement was palpable as we explored ways to champion each other's thriving female-centred businesses.

Amidst the energetic conversation of shared ideas, something special happened…Unexpectedly, the conversation shifted gears – "What are your thoughts on the soccer?" A brief pause… "I mean... football," and in that instant, two women from different corners of the world united in what was once a boundary topic of conversation.

We delved into heartfelt discussions, contemplating how this seismic shift in discourse will impact women, now and for generations to come. This conversation was rich, exciting, and at points so emotional that we wanted to share some of our collective musings on what this means for women:

  • Mainstream Cultural Impact: The emergence of this conversation within mainstream culture marks a significant moment. Research in recent years has illuminated the transformative effects of women's participation in sports, and now, it's backed by the culture we breathe!

  • Inspiring Role Models: The power of representation cannot be understated. You can’t be what you can’t see - and an entire generation of girls will grow up idolising soccer/football players, forging a tangible pathway towards an exciting career. The field becomes a launchpad for dreams across all sectors.

  • Leadership and Collaboration: The arena of sport breeds inspirational leaders, fostering collaboration towards shared goals. These skills are like a compass guiding women across every sector, steering them towards success.

  • Beyond Gender: Witness the game-changers as these athletes play soccer/football the way it was intended – fast, strategic, and as a team. Gender distinctions fade away, revealing the essence of a sport that transcends labels and gender.

  • Demand for Equity: Our voices grow louder, and we CAN’T go back. Women deserve excellence, from coaches and trainers to physios and brands.

  • Claiming Space: We've claimed our spot in traditionally male-dominated sports conversations. The discourse is evolving, fueled by fresh statistics, code discussions, and the far-reaching implications for women across the globe. Let’s just say the fact that I can name any soccer player, and sports statistics is a huge personal shift for me!

In the run up to the game, I thought, “Good luck to both teams, whilst we’ll be passionately cheering for The Matilda’s on our side, it is women that have already won!”

Stay tuned for the exciting collaborations between The Trouble Club & The Georgie Collective, forging an unbreakable bond of strength among women. The future is brighter when we work together! 🌟🔥
